The Phantom Tollbooth

This week, I'd like to talk about a book, my favorite book that is.

Norton Juster's "The Phantom Tollbooth"

I first read this book early on in elementary school, I'm not sure exactly how old I was, but what I do know was that this was the first book I personally identified as a favorite.

The story chronicles the journey of a dull and uninterested boy Milo, through a strange land he had access to through a mysterious tollbooth.

The entire book is a fun ride, making learning and educational concepts exciting and interesting. Norton Juster plays with language. Double meanings, idioms, and diction are made funny and intriguing. Juster questions logic and exposes faults, he shows the struggle between math and literature through the warring kingdoms of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis.

By the end, the reader is left for an intense craving for knowledge, and wanting to become skilled in language and mathematics, and wanting to stay away from the "doldrums" or the "mountains of ignorance", overall, effectively conveying an extremely positive message that sticks with you.

Dr. Dog Live @ The Amoeba, Now an Album

Recently, whilst spelunking in the reserves of youtube, I found the gnarliest live performance done by my favorite band, Dr. Dog.
They were playing at the famous record store in Hollywood, Amoeba.

The performance included 7 of their songs, and lasted just about 30 minutes.

I watched the video a lot, and decided  I needed to make this thing mobile.

So, popped the audio into garageband, split up the songs, and turned the whole thing into a live album on my iTunes.

So yea...

Here's the original vid.

SPACE: The Final FUN-teer

A cloak of darkness covers the night. All that echoes is the mighty echoe of the void. NOT! Theres no sound in space? What are you? A one years old baby?

Nah, its cool. If you're literate, keep reading.
So, Space, pretty cool right? Wrong! Wait, no, yes. You were right that time... Yes, space is, as defined by scientists, the coolest place on earth.

Who knows what celestial secrets the chasm holds. The possibilities are literally endless. For over months, humans have speculated and fantasized about what may lay in the space above and below. Perhaps foreign creatures, that talk with their ears, and eat with their mouths... like us?

Aliens are weird man.

I mean, what other oddities could you imagine. Space suits? Space SHIPS? Other things?
It just boggles my mind.

And another thing! Planets!
What about that planet made of like, a billion karat diamond. And that one planet make of like, gas. And some planets are HUGE! I mean, so big not even Dikembe could frontflip over them.
Yea, thats all for now.
TOON IN NEXT WEEK FOR DINOSAURS!!!
